Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the Collaboration Café. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.
Include the following sections:
- Application of Course Knowledge: Answer all questions/criteria with explanations and detail.
- Reflect on your learning experience in this course. Which concepts stood out to you and made an impact? How do you envision using these concepts in your future nursing practice as a master’s prepared nurse?
- Describe how course learning activities and assignments will help you achieve Program Outcome 1: Provide high-quality, safe, patient-centered care grounded in holistic health principles.
- Describe how course assignments or activities will help you achieve ONE of the sub-competencies from the advanced-level nursing education competencies from AACN Essentials Competency 1.2 Apply theory and research-based knowledge from nursing, the arts, humanities, and other sciences.
- 1.2f: Synthesize knowledge from nursing and other disciplines to inform education, practice, and research.
- 1.2g: Apply a systematic and defendable approach to nursing practice decisions.
- 1.2h: Employ ethical decision-making to assess, intervene, and evaluate nursing care.
- 1.2i: Demonstrate socially responsible leadership.
Answer
One concept that really caught me off guard was “shared decision making”. I think this concept is a big part of patient centered care. I love nursing so much because I love science so much. My passion for nursing comes from the science that backs nursing, not so much my love for people or a constant need to help people.
